SAINT MARY'S ANNOUNCES WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTER
FOCUSES ON HIGH-RISK PREGNANCIES AND HEALTH COACHING
RENO, Nev. – Wednesday, April 15, 2015 – Saint Mary's has announced the opening of a new Women's
Health Center designed to support women and their continuum of care, while
focusing on high-risk pregnancies and health coaching. The program aims
to enhance access to services by offering comprehensive, exemplary care
options tailored to inform, support, and empower women to achieve their
optimal level of health. The new Center is located at 645 N. Arlington
Ave., Suite 655 and is now accepting new patients.
"Developing a high-risk pregnancy center will allow our community
to have access to a comprehensive program dedicated to pre- and postpartum
care," said Joseph L. Harris, MD, FACOG and medical director for
Saint Mary's Women's Health Center. "Our goal is to provide
mothers with resources that support healthy preconception, pregnancy and
the management of complicated conditions such as gestational diabetes,
congenital heart conditions, genetic disorders and more."
Saint Mary's provider team will collaborate with local pediatric specialists
including Obstetricians, Neonatologists, Pediatric Cardiologists, and
Pediatric Surgeons to provide high-quality outcomes for parents and their
baby. The new center will offer both inpatient and outpatient services
for medical, obstetrical and surgical complications of pregnancy including
but not limited to DM, HTN, multiple gestation, and preterm labor, as
well as prenatal diagnosis. Such services will include consultation and
co-management for diagnostic ultrasound, amniocentesis and genetics counseling.
Additionally, patients will have access to antepartum fetal testing including
FHR monitoring, Doppler interrogation and ultrasound.
Leading the new Center is medical director, Joseph L. Harris, MD, FACOG
who is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
and by the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Harris received his
medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University
in New York, N.Y. and has been in practice for over 35 years. Dr. Harris
has practiced in a variety of private and public settings, most recently
with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine academic private practice at St. Joseph's
Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz. and was the medical director
of Desert Perinatology in Chandler, Ariz.
Additionally, he has held academic appointments as a clinical associate
professor OBGYN at the University of Arizona and actively led OBGYN and
Family Medicine residency training and medical student education.
Also joining the Center is obstetrician and gynecologist Craig W. Klose,
M.D., F.A.C.O.G. who will specialize in fertility support, high-risk pregnancy,
general gynecology and gynecologic surgery. Dr. Klose is a medical school
graduate from the University of Nevada School of Medicine who completed
his residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tenn. Prior to
joining Saint Mary's, Dr. Klose was a women's health specialist
and has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology in the northern Nevada
area for nearly 30 years. Additionally, Dr. Klose served six years in
the United States Navy and attained lieutenant commander ranking. Dr.
Klose is board-certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Obstetrician and gynecologist Cynthia St. Pierre, MD will be offering general
OB/GYN care including physicals and exams, contraceptive care, gynecological
surgery, laparoscopic surgery, menopause management and urinary incontinence
management to women of all stages of life. Dr. St. Pierre received her
medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed
both her internship and residency at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women
& Babies in Orlando, Fla. where she received first place for her resident
research project and symposium case report. Dr. St. Pierre is a member
of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American
Furthermore, the Center will be offering midwifery services to women of
all ages and stages. Midwives are board-certified nurse practitioners
who focus on what is most important to each woman's unique situation
and values and collaborate with the full provider team to provide the
highest quality of care. Certified nurse-midwives, Lynn Anderson, APRN,
Traci Gamet, APRN, Lynn Kennedy, APRN and Denise Rubinfeld, APRN will
provide care for a range of services including pregnancy, labor and birth,
menopause, family planning needs, gynecologic exams, contraceptive care,
general healthcare and much more.
Saint Mary's Women's Health Center will collaborate with physician
specialists, obstetricians and gynecologists to provide a holistic approach
to health and wellness that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit. Additionally,
mothers will receive education about the full spectrum of wellness from
the biology of pregnancy to nutrition, exercise, health habits, birth
preparation, early childcare, and family planning, to long-term health
maintenance. The Center will offer comprehensive obstetrical care through
an integrated service of obstetricians, family medicine providers and midwives.
