A Strong Community History
Saint Mary's began its legacy of caring for the community in 1877, when a few Dominican Sisters made an unplanned stop in Reno, on their journey from California to Kentucky. Since that time, Saint Mary's has developed a rich tradition of service in northern Nevada, building on over 100 years of quality healthcare delivered by a team of highly trained professionals. Nestled at the base of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains, Reno is a thriving and diverse community that offers a wonderful quality of life to those who call it home.

Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, an affiliate of Prime Healthcare Services, welcomes physicians of all specialties. San Dimas Community Hospital's successful operations are founded on Physician-Driven, Patient-Focused proven medical management protocols which involves active participation in day-to-day operations of the hospital. We have active participations of physicians from the community including positions on the Board.

Primary-Care-Physician Support
Saint Mary's Medical Group offers three support opportunities for primary-care physicians: (1) employment opportunities for targeted physicians in our community, (2) introduction of a new management services company (MSC), which will allow physician practices to remain independent but gain access to world-class administrative support to help them remain financially viable in these challenging times, and (3) succession recruiting for practices where a principal is nearing retirement age and he/she needs someone to be found and placed in the practice to "buy out" the current practitioner.

Meet our Chief Medical Officer

Jose A. Aguirre, MD, SFHM, has been providing hospitalist services in northern Nevada since 2005 and has achieved status as Senior Fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine. In addition to his role as Chief Medical Officer at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Dr. Aguirre will continue as president and CEO of Lake Tahoe Regional Hospitalists and Saint Mary's Hospitalists where he manages over 40 providers. Dr. Aguirre has been instrumental in providing continuity of care for patients at Saint Mary’s and has successfully managed our hospitalist program through trying economic times and change in ownership. Through Dr. Aguirre’s leadership, the hospitalist team has excelled in providing quality patient care.
