The institute is led by John Hansen, MD, a leading vascular surgeon from Western Surgical Group, and Michael J. Bloch, MD, vascular medical specialist from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and founder and medical director of Saint Mary's Risk Reduction Center.

Michael J. Bloch- Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine

• Founder and Medical Director, Risk Reduction Center

• Dr. Bloch has published numerous journal articles, book chapters and abstracts. He has also been active in research concerning hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, renal artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease. He also serves as a co-investigator for the landmark Women's Health Initiative (WHI) Study. His principal clinical and academic interests are finding novel ways of improving blood pressure and lipid management in patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.


John C. Hansen- Board Certified Vascular Surgeon

• Dr. Hansen is a grant recipient from the American College of Surgeons and certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is also a member of Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Minnesota Medical Association, Mayo Fellows Association, Mayo Medical Alumni Association, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association and UNC Medical Alumni Association.
