SAINT MARY'S FITNESS CENTER RECOGNIZES NEWLY CERTIFIED CANCER EXERCISE SPECIALISTS
RENO, Nev. – Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 – Saint Mary's Fitness Center is proud to announce three of their personal trainers have received Cancer Exercise Specialist certifications by the Cancer Exercise Training Institute. Cassie Goodman and Betsy Miarecki now join Tasha Rossi in being certified Cancer Exercise Specialists for the Cancer Rehabilitation Program and bring the healing power of exercise to cancer patients and survivors.
The Cancer Exercise Training Institute provides health and fitness professionals with comprehensive coursework on twenty-five types of cancer as well as pediatrics, surgeries and treatments, breast reconstruction, upper and lower body lymphedema prevention, cancer pain and fatigue, comprehensive fitness evaluations, goniometry and more. The Cancer Exercise Training Institute was established in response to a growing need to provide scientifically-based, current information on exercise therapy as a critical component of cancer recovery
Tasha Rossi was born in Reno and received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Nevada. In addition to her Cancer Exercise Specialist certification, she holds the following: Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, AFAA Indoor Cycling Certification and Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Pink Ribbon Program.
Also born in Reno, Betsy Miarecki received her bachelor of business administration degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine, a Pilates instructor and a Water-Fit instructor at Saint Mary's Fitness Center.
Born in Garland, TX, Cassie Goodman received her bachelor of arts degree and a master of science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine, a Water-Fit instructor, a Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Pink Ribbon Program and an Emergency Medical Responder through the State of Nevada.
The Medical Exercise Program at Saint Mary's Fitness Center includes the Cancer Rehabilitation program which offers supervised exercise designed to support cancer patients and survivors while aiding in recovery during and after treatment. Some of the health benefits of exercise for patients and survivors include: improving cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength, reducing fatigue, improving ability to perform day-to-day activities, enhancing mood while reducing anxiety, reducing pain and nausea and refocusing energy from illness to wellness.
