SAINT MARY'S COLLABORATES WITH MORE AND RENO ORTHOPAEDIC TO PROVIDE
FREE KNEE, HIP REPLACEMENTS
RENO, Nev. – Monday, July 27, 2015 – Saint Mary's has collaborated with Musculoskeletal Organization
for Research and Education (MORE) and Operation Walk USA to provide free
knee and hip replacements for uninsured and underinsured northern Nevadans.
Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply online for this life-changing
surgery that restores mobility by going to http://www.opwalkusa.com/patients.html.
"This unique community partnership will enable local patients to access
care that will improve their quality of life," said Helen Lidholm,
CEO of Saint Mary's Health Network. "We are excited to offer
this to the area and collaborate with MORE."
While more than one million hip and knee replacements are performed in
the U.S. each year, countless men and women continue to live with severe
arthritic pain and immobility because they cannot afford joint replacement surgery.
"I've always wanted to do this program and have just never been
able to make it happen," said orthopedic surgeon Eric Boyden. "Now,
with MORE and Saint Mary's, we have this amazing opportunity to really
help people who fall in that gap of care."
Operation Walk USA is an independent medical humanitarian organization
that provides free hip or knee replacement surgeries to patients in the
US. This service benefits permanent residents and US citizens who do not
qualify for government assistance programs and cannot afford surgery on
their own. The Musculoskeletal Organization for Research and Education
is a local northern Nevada non-profit that provides orthopedic education
and outreach programs, evidence-based research, and advanced fellowship training.
Please go to http://www.opwalkusa.com/patients.html for more information
