SAINT MARY'S EARNS
TOP PERFORMER RECOGNITION FOR KEY QUALITY METRICS FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION
Local hospital honored as a high performer in five core areas including
heart disease
Reno, Nev. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 – Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center has announced it was
recognized as a Joint Commission
Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for 2015 (data from 2014). Additionally, Saint Mary's is being recognized
for five performance measures, those include Heart Attack, Heart Failure,
Pneumonia, Surgical Care, and Perinatal Care. As a
Top Performer Saint Mary's is one of only 1,043 hospitals across the nation to earn
this designation and will be published in America's Hospitals: Improving
Quality and Safety, an annual report of the Joint Commission.
"Saint Mary's is pleased to receive this honor from the Joint
Commission, attesting to our commitment to delivering safe and high-quality
healthcare," added Helen Lidholm, CEO of Saint Mary's Health
Network. "Our staff and providers were the key drivers of this achievement
who worked together to develop and implement approaches that led us to
be ranked 95 percent or above for five quality measures. Our patients
are the beneficiaries of this accomplishment and we are proud to be a
Top Performer for our community."
The Joint Commission's
Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® program recognizes accredited hospitals that attain excellence on
accountability measure performance. The program is based on data reported in the previous year
about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to be the best
treatments for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure,
pneumonia, surgical care, children's asthma, inpatient psychiatric
services, stroke, tobacco use, substance use, venous thromboembolism,
immunization, and perinatal care.
To be a 2014
Top Performer, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2014 accountability
measure data, including:
- Achieve cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported
accountability measures;
- Achieve performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability
measure with at least 30 denominator cases; and
- Have at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent
or above, and within that measure set, achieve a performance rate of 95
percent or above on all applicable individual accountability measures.
