Tanya Phares, DO, MPH, CPE, FACPM, FACP

Dr. Phares is committed to improving health outcomes through prevention and delivery of high quality of healthcare. She is knowledgeable about public health and policy, with expertise in health disparities, social determinants of health, clinical preventive medicine, and process improvement. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and she has authored position statements for the American College of Preventive Medicine. She has experience in health insurance and has practiced primary care and hospital medicine; she currently practices as a hospitalist physician. She is a clinical assistant professor for the University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine, and serves on the Prevention Practice Committee for the American College of Preventive Medicine and on the Preventive Medicine Residency Advisory Committee for the California Department of Public Health. She received her medical degree from Western University of Health Science in Pomona, California; completed Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Southern California and University of California Irvine, and specialized training in Preventive Medicine at Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. She earned a Master’s in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, and completed a research fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control. She is dually board certified in General Preventive Medicine & Public Health, and Internal Medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Preventive Medicine, and a certified physician executive.
