Mind-body calming exercises like yoga and tai chi have been shown to reduce blood pressure, heart rates, and levels of the stress hormone cortisol, increase dopamine levels (feel good brain chemical), relieve stress and improve mood and feelings of well being.

Studies have shown that people who engage in mind-body calming exercises are routinely less stressed, have lower rates of depression, cope better with setbacks and report greater feelings of overall satisfaction with their life. Mind-body calming exercises like yoga, tai chi, and Pilates, can be safely performed every day of the week.

Saint Mary's Fitness Center offers a variety of mind/body classes for all levels. These classes are designed to improve posture, balance/strength, and flexibility.
