Walk For Art And Your Heart

With American Heart Health month just around the corner in February, the Art Spot Reno, Art Walk Reno and Saint Mary's Fitness Center are gearing up to bring you Walk for Art and Your Heart. The HeART Healthy challenge begins on Thursday, February 5 th at Liberty Fine Art Gallery starting at 5 p.m. This event promotes exercising for a healthy heart while enjoying the art around our great city.

Exercise is an important part of maintaining a healthy heart and circulatory system overall. The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week. That is just 30 minutes 5 days per week! The following are some tips to help you achieve this goal and get you on your way to a healthier heart:

  • Get walking: whether it is outdoors or on a treadmill, this is a simple and affordable way to achieve your 150 minutes per week.
  • Find out what you like: Exercise should be fun. If walking is not your cup of tea than try other forms of exercise. The more enjoyable you find an exercise program; the more likely you are to complete it on a regular basis.
  • Join a gym: fitness centers offer classes and personal trainers to help keep you motivate and on track with your goals.
  • Remember, every step counts: park at the back of parking lots and take the stairs instead of elevators.
  • Join the Walk for Art and Your Heart!
