June 10 - Plan for Your Success

Now that you have a clear vision of your goals and the person you would like to become, your challenge is to set yourself up for success with planning. To be successful in life in general, or with specific fitness goals, one must PLAN for success. That requires thinking ahead about workouts, nutrition, sleep, etc. As a personal trainer for many years and someone who has a very busy and active schedule in and out of the gym, I can state for certain that those three factors are keys for fitness improvement and overall health. Personally, planning my meals and workout routine the day before helps me stay on track and focused. Too often I hear clients say they rushed out of the house to get to work or the gym but didn’t have time to prepare anything to eat; or they forgot their gym shoes or gloves; or they were not sure what to do when they got to the gym.

A simple solution is to plan ahead, even the night before. Think about what you will eat before and after your workout and get food prepared the night before. Make sure to pack your workout clothes or what you will need for work if you exercise before work. Have a specific plan as to what exercises you will do when you get to the gym. And of course, get a good night’s sleep of 7-8 hours. Following these few steps should help you stay on track to reach your fitness goals.
