Previously, we have talked about how important staying positive is to your goals. What we didn’t mention, and what you probably already know, is that negative self-talk can ruin your progress and sabotage your goals. Today, your task is to become more aware of the little voice inside your head. Is it helping you or holding you back? If your thoughts are creating a barrier to life you want, here’s how you can begin fresh like I did!

  • The secret of getting ahead is getting started. Everyone has to start somewhere, sometime and somehow. Let today be your day.
  • Setting yourself up for failure is not an option. Don’t look back or relinquish on the past.
  • You are your worst enemy. Quit sabotaging yourself with excuses, procrastination and destructive self-talk.
  • Always keep telling yourself that you can do this no matter what.
  • DO NOT talk yourself out of going to the gym because once you get there and do your thing, you will feel so good and proud that you went. Remember that feeling and be repetitive about it.
  • Don’t think so hard about your next workout or what you are going to do when you get to the gym. Set your clothes out the night before. Come morning time, don’t think twice. Get into tunnel vision mode.
  • Don’t be afraid of the machines, find one you’re comfortable with and just start moving. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I did. There are great trainers ready to help you!
  • Biggest piece of advice…..stay off the scale! People often get discouraged when they weigh themselves and the number is either higher or the same. If you feel good, then that’s what matters!

I can share this with you because I’ve been there! Tipping the scales at 262 lbs, I did something about it. I get up every day to go to the gym. I now weigh 160lbs and my journey is not over.

My name is Mechelle Bradshaw and I’m a Supervisor for Kid’s in Motion at St Mary’s Fitness Center. I am married to a loving and supportive husband and have two children. We are a very active family. We love to camp, hike, swim, bike, etc. I try to get to the gym at least 4-5 times a week, two of those times I meet with my trainer Mark for Small Group Training. It definitely keeps me on track.
