Integrated Medicine

Address: 10415 Double R. Boulevard Reno, NV 89521

Integrated medicine implies the use of conventional Western Medicine with Alternative Medicine to provide patients with individualized medical care. Family medicine manages a variety of chronic illnesses, acute illnesses and injury, as well as implements preventive medicine. Jessica Curti, MD, Staci Dooley, APRN and Ansley Winter, APRN specialize in family medicine and general practice for adults and young children. Unlike other medical offices, they are able to treat both with a Western Medicine approach and an Alternative Medicine approach. Megan Clowers, OMD is our acupuncturist and her Eastern Medicine approach compliments family medicine and general practice.

What is Oriental Medicine?

  • Traditional Medicine from Asia
  • Herbs and diet are used to treat medical disorders
  • Acupuncture is used to support the body

What is Integrated Medicine?

  • Integrative Medicine takes account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. Integrated Medicine does not focus on one part of the body, but rather all systems of the body and how they are connected.

Chinese Herbs and More

Did you know that Chinese herbs can be used to target viruses as well as sleep issue, hot flashes, stress management, pain, and allergies? Our Center for Family and Integrated Medicine performs bio meridian testing to identify specific viruses and develop personalized treatment blends comprised of Chinese herbs. Additionally, the practice now offers a wide variety of essential oils, known for supporting the immune system, promoting relaxation, and relieving symptoms from colds and minor aches and pains following exercise.

Saint Mary’s Center for Family and Integrated Medicine now offers Cannabidiol (CBD). It is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD contains 0.3% or less THC, where marijuana contains 15-20% THC. CBD does not contain properties that will give you a high.

What are the health benefits of CBD?

CBD is anti-inflammatory, relieves anxiety, and relieves pain associated with fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines, and more.

Is it legal?

Yes! In 2014, the US Farm Bill officially classified cannabis plants containing a maximum of 0.3% THC as 'industrial hemp’ and all other cannabis as 'marijuana’. The Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, effective January 1, 2019, removed hemp from Schedule I of the federal Controlled Substance Act. Therefore, hemp is no longer federally regulated as a controlled substance. The growing of hemp is federally legal under Nevada supervision programs.

How can I try CBD?

Saint Mary’s is the first hospital health network to offer medical grade CBD products to our patients over 18 years old. You must see a Saint Mary’s primary care provider and ask them if CBD is right for you. Once you have clearance from your provider, CBD products are available for purchase through our Family and Integrated Medicine office.
